Year 6 World War II Day

Our year 6 children enjoyed a very different experience today when they became 'evacuees' for the day!  The children had the opportunity to 'Dig for Victory' when they planted their class vegetable beds. They will now spend time nurturing their plants before harvesting them next year. The children also had the chance to improve their sewing skills when learning to 'Make Do and Mend'. They used our class kitchen to try out some wartime recipes, ensuring they kept to the strict rationing guidelines of the period! Finally, the children were introduced to some of the songs and dances that were popular during the war years.
