Hamstel at Home
In the event of a school closure, Hamstel Junior School is committed to ensuring continuity of education through remote (online) learning.
This will fall within the following two categories:
-
school closures or restrictions on attendance, where school access for pupils is restricted;
-
individual cases where a pupil is unable to attend school but is able to learn.
The type and structure of remote learning provided will vary depending on the anticipated length of the closure. Parents will be kept fully informed via email.
We recognise that some pupils and families may experience difficulties accessing remote learning and the school will work closely with parents and pupils to provide appropriate support where needed.
Children at junior school are expected to spend 4 hours learning each day (as recommended by the DfE). This will depend, however, on why you child is at home and the nature of the work they will be undertaking.
Remote learning will be delivered through the following arrangements:
-
Learning activities will be available on the school website. These may include live lessons, recorded lessons, or links to online learning through Oak National Academy.
-
Children will be able to send work in via the school office for their teacher to review.
In individual cases, the school will work closely with parents to provide personalised remote learning, ensuring that children can continue their learning and remain up to date.
During any period of school closure, the school will continue to work closely with parents and carers of pupils with SEND and pupils eligible for Pupil Premium to ensure continuity of support.
