Star Author Day for Year 3 and 4

There was a great buzz across year 3 and 4 last Friday as they welcomed Thiago de Moraes to the school as this term's Star Author!

As the author and illustrator of A Mummy Ate My Homework, the children were particularly excited to meet Thiago in person having read his book themselves in class.

Thiago started the day with an interactive assembly where he explained how he came up with the idea for his story, the research he had to do and how drawing helped him to imagine his characters. He explained how he had to write 17 versions of the story before he was happy with it! Thiago also showed the children the various drawings he'd created of his main character as well as the final one he used in his book. Thiago then set the children the task of writing their own escape story with their own character, monster and situation. Some of the children presented their finished story to the rest of year 3 and 4 at the end of the day.

Well done to those children who shared their work as well as everyone who won our special Star Author competition and got to eat lunch with Thiago.

Thank you Thiago and Jacqui Johnson from Jackson Diego Story Emporium for a wonderful day!
