6E shared their learning about the Second World War in their class assembly last week. Alongside presenting a range of fascinating facts, the children also demonstrated their growing confidence in French. We discovered the types of aircraft the RAF used to defend Britain, as well as what life was like for children who were evacuated to the countryside.
Their writing vividly captured the experiences of evacuees, using powerful similes and emotive language to bring the past to life. The class also displayed striking artwork inspired by Henry Moore and his drawings of people sheltering in underground stations during the Blitz.
A real highlight was their performance of Evacuate, Evacuate, which gave us a sense of how people found ways to keep their spirits up during such challenging times.
Thank you, 6E, for such an informative and memorable assembly!
