Last week, 5Mu lit up the school hall with an inspiring class assembly, retelling the story of The Firework-maker’s Daughter—a book they’ve been exploring in class. Lila’s daring quest to obtain royal sulphur became the perfect springboard for the children to reflect on their own dreams and ambitions.
Inspired by Lila’s courage and determination, the children shared the jobs they aspire to do when they grow up. From astrophysicists and teachers to artists and even elephant trainers, their aspirations were as diverse as they were imaginative! The children demonstrated how the skills they have been learning in class as geographers, engineers, musicians and athletes help them to grow and would have helped Lila to complete her quest. But it wasn’t just about careers—they also shared the kind of people they hope to become: happy, artistic, bold, kind, healthy, and successful.
To close the assembly, 5Mu performed a beautiful rendition of When I Grow Up.
Thank you, 5Mu, for a truly uplifting and memorable assembly. Your passion and positivity remind us all that the future is bright—and full of fireworks!
