Last Friday, 5L took everyone on a fantastic journey through the reading they have enjoyed this year. With an impressive 69,800 minutes of home reading completed so far, the children were eager to share just how much they love books!

They opened their assembly by testing the audience’s knowledge of popular stories, revealing tiny sections of book covers and challenging everyone to guess the title. The class then showcased their descriptive writing inspired by the book, Flotsam.

Their work on The Jamie Drake Equation linked brilliantly to their Space topic. The children confidently demonstrated their understanding of the solar system and the International Space Station, and their artwork, inspired by Peter Thorpe was particularly striking. It was also clear how much they enjoyed their planetarium experience.

Their final book, The Last Bear, helped the children imagine what life in the Arctic might be like, as they shared some of the skills they would need to venture so far north!

To finish, 5L were 'dreaming about the things that we could be' as they shared their career aspirations, accompanied by some powerful singing.

Well done, 5L, for an inspiring and engaging assembly!
