Winning House

Well done Buckingham - this year's winning house.

Buckingham's House Captains were presented with the trophy in a whole school assembly yesterday. The children from Buckingham were treated to games on the field as a reward for gaining the most house points.

Well done to all our pupils who have earned House Points over the year by showing great behaviour, good manners and fantastic effort in their work.

Portico Enrichment Festival

A group of our More Able Year 3 pupils joined children from each of the Portico schools for an extra-terrestrial experience.  Having discovered an egg-shaped space ship on the school field, the children took on the roles of scientists, engineers, cryptographers, news reporters and police investigators to discover what they could about this unusual occurrence!

Focal Point Gallery

Our year 4 and 5 pupils have had the opportunity to visit the Focal Point Gallery this year. Focal Point aims to reach out to schools to give the children the opportunity to visit an art gallery and work with local artists. A representative from each year 5 class visited the gallery recently to watch some of their digital media work showcased on the big screen outside.

Portico Art and Design Technology Festival

The schools of Portico Academy Trust each hosted an exhibition of children's art work this term. Pupils at Hamstel Junior School enjoyed the opportunity to view work produced by children at the other Portico schools as well as see some of their own work on display.

 Aim High Forensic Workshop

In our final Aim High workshop of the year, our More Able children from years 3, 4 and 5 spent the day with a forensic scientist, learning about this fascinating and practical field of science. They tried out some of the hands-on techniques involved in forensic science and then used this knowledge to investigate a murder scene.
