Autumn Term (First Half)

Harvest Festival

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Harvest collection for the Southend Foodbank. Our newly elected School Council worked hard to create a fantastic display of all the donations ahead of our special whole school assembly.

Southend Foodbank is a charity which works hard to support families in crisis. We are proud of our community links and know how grateful the charity is for all your kind donations.

School Council Election

Elections took place in every class in the school when the children voted for one of their peers to represent them on the school council.

Our school council works hard over the year to help make the school even better as well as support in whole school events such as Children in Need.

Congratulations to the newly elected school council for 2018 – 2019

Scholastic Book Fair

Thank you to everyone who bought books at the Scholastic Book. The book fair raised a fantastic £883.82. The commission generated will be used to buy lots of new books for our school library.

Competition Winners

Well done to our competition winners who each won a £5 voucher to spend at the book fair.

Blake P (Year 6)

Vanessa V (Year 5)

George D (Year 4)

Jocelyn E (Year 3)

Travelling by Tuba

The children had a fantastic day on Friday 5th October as Hamstel Junior School welcomed Chris and Stewart from Travelling by Tuba.

The whole school enjoyed the opportunity to see, and learn about, different instruments from all over the world. Some children even had the chance to play them!

Favourites Day

The children enjoyed the special ‘Favourites Day’ menu in the canteen on Thursday 4th October.

House Points System

At Hamstel Junior School we have a house system where children earn House Points by demonstrating fantastic effort in their work, good manners and great behaviour. Pupils are allocated to one of four houses: Balmoral, Windsor, Sandringham and Buckingham.

Congratulations to our year 6 house captains (pictured above) who were elected by their peers. Part of their role will involve announcing the winning house each week in assembly.

Click on the audio below to hear why the house captains applied for their role.

House Captains Reasons for Applying

Children from each year group shared what they had learnt about the different 'Hamstel Houses' during the project they carried out at the beginning of term in a special assembly. Click on the link below to find out more.
